I remember, as a child, every night before sleep, I had to spend 20-30 minutes with my father sitting on bed side, listening the key verses from ancient Indian scripture, learn, understand and recite it to my father. It was boring and monotonous but, as a son of Brahman priest, a school teacher and much disciplined person, I had no option but to obey the instruction.

Now, after several years later when I am entering into the third phase of my life, whenever I sit back and start reflecting on my life’s moments, I feel those were the most cheerful, exciting, pleasant and unnerving moments. Those were the days that helped me become what I am today. Strong moral values, principle centered upbringing, treating all human being equal and not discriminating because one belongs from specific cast, creed or religion. Many people would feel that being a son of Brahman priest, how come I am taught to be so flexible and accommodating. he word “Brahman” is derived from the verb brh (Sanskrit: to grow), and connotes greatness. Brahman is the unchanging, infinite, immanent, and transcendent reality which is the Divine Ground of all matter, energy, time, space, being, and everything beyond in this Universe

Indian ancient scripture separates the cast based on the education, deed and act that you do on this planet but not because of your birth or origin:

जन्मना जायते शूद्रः कर्मणा द्विज उच्यते |

वेद् पाठी भवेद ब्रह्मः ब्रह्मं जानायातिति ब्राह्मणः ||

Everyone is shudra by birth and becomes vaishya if one does good act. One who studies well are known as Kshatriya and if one obtains the ultimate wisdom then only he can be called Brahman.

India is recognized as a place where first ray of knowledge rises, the country where the goddess of wisdom is imbibed everywhere and she is considered as a daughter of every home. There are thousands of verses and quotes from ancient Indian scriptures like Veda, Puran, Upanishad, Ramayana, Mahabharata and alike. Also subsequently the great Indian poets and writers like Kabir, Tulsi, Vivekananda, Rahim, etc. through their writings – they have shown us the way to make our life a pleasant and happy one on this planet.

This text published on this site is prelude to my book that I am planning to write containing 365 key verses from various Indian scriptures and explain them in simple language so that a common man can understand and benefit from it. The sole objective of this book will be to make your 365 days the best one on planet, make us realize what it means to be true living in this world. What should we do so that when we have happiness, peace and prosperity in our life?

I would say that the life is a journey and each one of us live searching throughout, the meaning and the purpose of life. However, to live life in a way that helps fulfill our duty towards the society, the nation and the world and then die one day with the feeling that you have done your best should be the ultimate aim of life.

जब तुम आया जगत में जग हंसा तू रोये

ऐसी करनी ना करी पाछे हँसे सब कोये

When you took birth the first thing after breath you did was cried and your family and friends laughed. You should not do any deed or act that everyone should start laughing at you when you die.

Through the posts on www.everydayindianwisdom.com I will bring to you the finest of verses, dohas, mantras and shlokas from various scriptures, poets and philosopher from India and explain their meaning in most useful and understandable manner.

It would be my delighted pleasure to see if any of these verses on this website helps you realize the true meaning of your life, helps you in contributing towards making the world a better place to live for yourself and upcoming generation and leads you to Brahman (the pursuer of ultimate knowledge and wisdom), my efforts will return me the value.
